About DOC
The NANS Board of Directors always believed that diversity and inclusion are important to the overall mission of the organization. We feel that it not only increases the reach of our specialty but also improves overall patient care.
The Diversity and Outreach Committee (DOC) has been charged with assessing the current state of ethnic diversity within NANS and investigating any possible barriers to accessing neuromodulation therapies by those who live in traditionally underserved communities by pursuing three distinct projects: Outreach, Mentorship, and Research. These pillars aim to bolster NANS’s mission of promoting collaboration among all members and encouraging greater access to neuromodulation education, research, and advocacy.

NANS in the Community
Color of Pain is a community outreach and education initiative organized and championed by the North American Neuromodulation Society’s Diversity and Outreach Committee (DOC). The event is a public symposium created to address the difficulties encountered by African Americans and other underserved communities in obtaining comprehensive pain management care. It is a 1-day free event, held in partnership with a local non-profit at a venue in the community.
