The North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) and the Institute of Neuromodulation (ION) are investing in the next generation of neuromodulation researchers through the NANS/ION Early Stage Investigator (ESI) Research Grant.
Designed to support promising early-career physicians, engineers, and scientists, the program will award two grants of up to $25,000—one focused on brain-related research and one on pain- or spine-related research. In addition to funding, recipients will receive mentorship from experienced investigators and recognition as NANS/ION Research Fellows.
Applications are open July 15–September 15, 2026. Eligible applicants must have completed their PhD, MD, or medical training within the past 10 years and must not have previously received a major independent research grant as the lead investigator.
Award recipients will be announced at the NANS 2027 Annual Meeting, January 21-24, 2027, in Las Vegas.
