The North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) has published a new consensus curriculum for deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation training.

Developed over two years by a NANS Education Committee subcommittee led by Dr. Jeffrey Raskin, the publication outlines recommendations for competency progression in DBS surgical education.

Designed for implanting surgeons and neurosurgical trainees, the curriculum is organized around the six ACGME core competencies and defines expected skills across 57 dimensions for early learners, advanced learners, and independent practitioners.

The publication highlights NANS’ ongoing commitment to advancing standardized, high-quality education in neuromodulation and helping address variability in DBS training and surgical practice.
